Galician Night of Researchers (G-Night 2024)

The Galician Night of Researchers project is an event associaciated with MSCA e Cidadanía, European Union iniciative funded by Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions. Call identifier HORIZON-MSCA-2023-CITIZENS-01 (Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions European Researchers Night 2024-2025).

This year the event took place on September 27th at Redeiras building of Universidade de Vigo. FunNanoBio Group members participated in the event with a scientific stand to show the public the projects currently developing in the group.

BIOCELLPHE is revolutionizing biophotonic technology by pushing the boundaries of optical sensing and cell analysis. Susmita dove into the latest breakthroughs, sharing insights on how the project is transforming the landscape of medical diagnostics and biological research.

IES Montecastelo visits the CINBIO

Students from IES Montecastelo visited the CINBIO to experiment the daily life of scientists of the different research groups in the centre.

Galician Night of Researchers (G-NIGHT 2023)

Galician Night of Researchers project HORIZON-MSCA-2022-CITIZENS-01 (Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions European Researchers’ Night 2022-2023) is a scientific dissemination event promoted by the European Commission, which takes place simultaneously in more than 370 European cities since 2005. Unidade de Cultura of University of Vigo organised this activity in which our group participated. The G-Night 2023 was held on the 29th September at Edificio Redeiras in O Berbés (Vigo).

Open day for visitors at CINBIO 2023

CINBIO opened its doors to show the public the work that we made in the centre. Visitors had the opportunity to visit the installations and interconnect with the researchers.

CEP Plurilingüe visited the UVigo

On 19th May, CEP Plurilingüe Igrexa Valadares visited different Faculties of the University of Vigo to know the researcher’s activities of different areas. Our group participated in this iniciative to show them all about plasmonic nanoparticles.

II Scientific Conference at IES Antón Alonso

IES Antón Alonso Ríos organised the 2nd edition of their Scientific Conference where the students presented the scientific projects developed during the academic year. Furthermore, students could discuss about them and find motivating experiences that encourage research and scientific vocations. On 25th April, Isabel Pastoriza was invited to enlighten the students about nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Expo-fair «Science that cames with a women’s name»

Researchers of our group participated in the event called “A ciencia que vén con nome de muller” (April 21st), organised by the Unidade de Cultural of the UVigo. This activity held place at the Berbés in Vigo and the main objective was to promote among the young people the scientific and technological vocations alongside with showing to the society the work that the researchers develop on their basis day.

Women researcher’s day at IES Sánchez Cantón

On 31st March, Isabel Pastoriza Santos was interviewed by the students (4ºESO) of IES Sánchez Cantón about her career and research work. Marián Fernández Villarino (sports), Eva Lantarón Caeiro (physiotherapy), and Beatriz Legerén Lago (videogames) were also interviewed to share all their research experiences to the students.

International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2023

February 11th is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Women in our group participated with activities to encourage and promote high school student girls about pursuing a career in science.

GCiencia interview about SERSing project

Open day for visitors at CINBIO 2022

CINBIO opened its doors to show the public the work that we made in the centre. Visitors had the opportunity to visit the installations and participate in the activities during the day, which included the participation in the recording of the program “Efervescencia” hosted by Manuel Vicente. Isabel Pastoriza awarded with the Antonio Casares Rodríguez Medal of science 2022

The Real Academia Galega de Ciencias (RAGC) awarded the Antonio Casares Rodríguez medal (Chemistry and Geology section) to Isabel Pastoriza Santos for his advances in the development of scientific projects, such as in the diagnosis of diseases such as Covid-19. The award ceremony was celebrated the 6th of October in Santiago de Compostela. Further information on the following article:

Publication of the book “Quero ser investigadora”

Universidade de Vigo published the 2nd edition of “Quero ser investigadora”. A book that compiles the work of 10 women researchers at UVigo, among which is Isabel Pastoriza.

School students visited the FunNanoBio lab

On May, the primary schools CEIP Igrexa de Valadares and CEIP Sárdoma Moledo visited our laboratories to know on first-hand the researcher’s activities.

International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2022

On 11th February, women in our group participated on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science activities to encourage and promote high school student girls about pursuing a career in science.

CINBIO did an open day for visitors

11th November 2021, the CINBIO did an open day for visitors. We perform experiments to the public and told them our research work.

10º Salón da oferta de Edugal

Our group  gave a science workshop in the 10º Salón da oferta de educación e formación de Galicia (Edugal).

The European Researchers’ Night (G-Night 2021)

The European Researchers’ Night (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions) is a Europe-wide public event focus in the divulgation of  the science.  This year, the event took place in 29 countries on Friday 24th September 2021. Our group went to O Tinglado, Vigo, to participate in this event.
