Optical Properties

The group is very interested in study the optical properties of nanostructures when interacting with light from an experimental and theoretical point of view.
On one hand, we focus on analyzing the plasmonic properties of metal nanoparticles and their assemblies. The excitation of plasmons generates different optical effects that are central to a wide range of applications in (bio)sensing, photocatalysis, photovoltaics, (bio)imaging, therapy, etc. Therefore the intimate understanding of the optical behavior in the plasmonic nanostructures is crucial to the progress of Plasmonics.
On the other hand, we are also investigating alternative materials with inherent metal-like properties, such as J-aggregates, which can confine the light at nanoscale as metal.
